A Legacy Built on Trust: Barry Hawn’s 52 Years in the Tire Industry and Why He Chose CEAT

A Legacy Built on Trust: Barry Hawn’s 52 Years in the Tire Industry and Why He Chose CEAT

In an industry where trust is earned over time and loyalty is built on performance, few names carry the weight and respect that Barry Hawn does. As the Director of AG & OE Products at Tirecraft Ontario, Hawn’s 53 years in the tire business is more than just a milestone; it’s a testament to a career shaped by grit, experience, and a deep understanding of what truly matters to farmers and dealers alike. Over the past three decades, Hawn has carved a niche in agricultural tires, becoming a trusted voice across Ontario and beyond. And back in 2018, when CEAT Specialty was still a rising challenger brand in North America, Hawn took a leap of faith that would go on to define one of CEAT’s most enduring dealer relationships. “Right from the start, the product presentation just made sense to me,” Hawn recalls. “After the conversation, my boss turned to me and asked, ‘What do you think, Barry?’ I told him, ‘If even half of what they’re saying holds true, this is a damn good tire - I’m willing to give it a shot.’” That first order, just a few hundred tires, was the start of something much bigger. Fast forward to today, and CEAT is a pillar of how TIRECRAFT Ontario leads their market in Ag tire sales. “We’ve always been a multi-branded business,” Hawn says, “but CEAT plays a significant role in our portfolio. The performance speaks for itself, and the team behind it is just incredible to work with.” What sets CEAT apart, according to Hawn, along with its product quality is the partnership. “In most cases, companies tell you what they’re going to do. CEAT? They ask what they can do for us. That’s rare. And they always come back with exactly what we need.” Through the ups and downs, including the challenges of COVID, Hawn remained a steady advocate, helping CEAT navigate and grow in the Canadian market with his unmatched insight and belief in the product. As Hawn marks his 53rd year in the industry, all of us at CEAT Specialty would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for his trust, partnership, and enduring support. His voice has shaped how CEAT listens, learns, and grows . . . and we’re proud to continue this journey with him and the Tirecraft Ontario team. If you’re still on the fence about trying CEAT Ag tires, Hawn has one final message for you: “Give the tires a try; you won’t be disappointed. They’ll work hard for you, just like they’ve worked for us.” Read the full blog

“Walking the Talk” with CEAT Ag Tires

“Walking the Talk” with CEAT Ag Tires

Chris Fox, managing partner of Best-One of Indy, is “walking the talk” with CEAT Specialty tires. He and his team are selling loads of CEAT Ag tires to Indiana farmers, and he has installed a set of CEAT FARMAX tires on his own Deere. "With CEAT tires, farmers are getting new technology, but are not necessarily having to pay the price for it," Fox says. "With input costs way up, farmers are looking to cut costs. CEAT gives us a very cost-effective tire in our lineup." “With CEAT you get lower rolling resistance, less soil compaction, good roadability and all the other key aspects you look for in a farm tire,” he notes. “I like the fact that I can talk to our farmer customers about having CEAT tires on my own tractor.” Founded in 1986, Best-One of Indy is a family-owned tire and auto repair company with 15 locations throughout Central Indiana. CEAT Specialty is at the forefront of innovation in farm tire technology. The company’s investments in research and development have led to significant improvements in durability, traction, and fuel efficiency. Advanced materials and design techniques allow for better performance in diverse agricultural conditions, enhancing productivity for farmers. Features like increased tread depth and specialized rubber compounds help reduce soil compaction and improve grip on uneven terrain. These advancements not only support agricultural efficiency but also contribute to sustainability by optimizing equipment performance. Features and benefits of FARMAX tires include: R1-W tread depth for extended tire lifespan. Wider treads and larger inner volume to decrease soil compaction. Rounded shoulders for minimal disruption to soil and crops. Higher angle lug and lug overlap at the center for superior roadability. Lower angle at the shoulder for enhanced traction.
