SPRAYMAX in Action: Meeting Market Demands with Speed and Strength
Fri, 3 Oct 2025 | PRODUCTS
In the fast-moving world of agriculture, tire performance is about durability, innovation, adaptability, and partnerships that deliver when it counts. One standout story that captures all the above is the rise of SPRAYMAX, CEAT Specialty’s advanced VF technology sprayer tire, and its successful deployment across the US and the Canadian market; thanks in large part to a trusted partner, Barry Hawn of Tirecraft Ontario.
Hawn, who has spent over 50 years in the tire business and currently serves as Director of Off-Road Tire Products at Tirecraft Ontario, has been closely involved in shaping CEAT’s product presence in the region. Two years ago, he brought a very real challenge to the CEAT team.
“All the new sprayers – the big boys - were no longer coming with 38- or 42-inch wheels. They needed a 46-inch option,” Barry recalls. “And at the time, only one manufacturer had that specific VF750/60R46 size. We were going to be out of the game.”
What followed is a testament to CEAT Specialty’s responsiveness and engineering speed. Within just ten months of that conversation, CEAT Specialty had designed, tooled, and delivered the new SPRAYMAX VF750/60R46.
“That kind of turnaround is unheard of in this industry,” Hawn says. “We moved around 80 units that first year in 2024 and 2025 has been even better. The tire has worked fabulously.”
So, what makes SPRAYMAX stand out?
- Higher Non-Skid Depth (NSD): Longer life, even under intense use
- Advanced VF Technology: 40% more load-carrying capacity compared to standard radials, or 40% less air pressure than standard radials at the same load.
- Stepped Lug Design: Improved grip and traction across varying field conditions
- Optimized Lug Geometry: Enhanced roadability between fields and farms
- Rounded Shoulder Design: Reduces soil compaction and crop damage
In short, SPRAYMAX is engineered to handle the weight, speed, and field-road-field transitions demanded by today’s high-capacity sprayers without compromising on comfort or control.
“CEAT has done this multiple times for us,” Hawn adds. “They listen, they move fast, and they deliver. That’s why they’re a great company to deal with.”
At CEAT Specialty, we believe true innovation begins with understanding what the market needs and building strong relationships with those who know it best. SPRAYMAX is one of many examples of how that approach continues to deliver real results, in the field and on the road.
