Your Guide to OTR Warranty: Coverage, Claims & Best Practices
Tue, 9 Sep 2025 | PRODUCTS
When it comes to Off-The-Road (OTR) tyres, performance and durability are non-negotiable. Whether you're operating in mining, construction, port or industrial environments, your tyres endure extreme conditions daily. That’s why understanding your warranty coverage is just as critical as choosing the right tyre. CEAT Tyres Limited offers a comprehensive Limited Warranty for OTR Tyres, designed to protect your investment and ensure peace of mind.
Here’s everything you need to know about CEAT’s OTR warranty: what’s covered, what’s not, and how to make a successful claim.
What Is Covered Under CEAT’s OTR Warranty?
CEAT’s Limited Warranty applies to tyres manufactured on or after 1st September 2015, bearing the licensed trademarks ‘CEAT’ or ‘ALTURA’. These tyres must be used in normal service conditions and include categories such as Mining, Construction, Port, and Industrial.
To qualify as an “Eligible Tyre,” the following conditions must be met:
- The tyre must bear the CEAT or ALTURA trademark and have a visible serial number.
- It must be manufactured by CEAT and used according to CEAT’s maintenance and safety guidelines.
- The tyre must have at least 3mm of tread remaining.
- It must be within the age limits specified for warranty adjustment.
- Only the original purchaser is eligible for compensation.
Adjustable vs. Non-Adjustable Conditions
Tyres are considered in Adjustable Condition if they become unusable due to manufacturing defects or workmanship issues during normal use. CEAT’s technical experts assess each case individually, and compensation is determined based on the tyre’s age and condition.
However, tyres fall under Non-Adjustable Condition if:
- They are older than 60 months from the date of manufacture.
- They show signs of misuse, improper mounting, or use on non-approved rims.
- They’ve been damaged due to overloading, under-inflation, chemical exposure, or road hazards.
- They’ve been modified (e.g., re-grooved, re-lugged) or filled with non-approved materials.
- They’ve undergone full service, repair, or retreading.
- They’ve been stored improperly or exposed to extreme temperatures.
CEAT’s warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damages, including loss of time, equipment uses or personal injury.
Warranty Duration & Adjustment Policy
CEAT offers a 5-year warranty from the date of manufacture for Bias and Radial Earthmover, Industrial, Construction, Port, and Mining tyres. The adjustment is calculated on a pro rata basis:
- Years 0-3: Customer pays only for the used tread depth.
- Year 4: The Maximum adjustment limit is 40%.
- Year 5: The Maximum adjustment limit is 30%.
Beyond five years, all warranties—express or implied—expire. Tubes and flaps are covered for 2 years from the date of manufacture.
How to File a Warranty Claim?
CEAT has streamlined the warranty claim process for faster resolution. Here’s what you need to do:
- Contact your dealer or distributor immediately after tyre failure.
- Share key details: defect image, tread depth, serial number, tyre size, OEM model, year of purchase, hours run, and pattern images.
- The dealer forwards this information to the CEAT sales head for your region.
- CEAT’s Customer Service Department reviews the claim.
- Once approved, a credit note for reimbursement or replacement is issued via the dealer.
NB: A clear photo of the defective tyre is mandatory for claim processing.

Owner’s Responsibilities: Best Practices for Warranty Protection
To stay eligible for warranty benefits, owners must follow CEAT’s usage and safety guidelines:
- Maintain proper cold inflation pressure based on tyre size and load.
- Use approved mounting lubricants—never anti-freeze solutions.
- Inspect tyres regularly for cuts, loose cords, or embedded objects.
- Avoid driving over sharp materials like glass or metal.
- Never re-inflate a tyre that’s been run flat or under-inflated without inspection.
- Use accurate pressure gauges and check tyre pressure when tyres are cool.
- Avoid using damaged or corroded rim parts.
- Do not weld, heat, or modify rims.
- Ensure proper wheel alignment and avoid overloading.
Following these practices extends tyre life and ensures your warranty remains valid.
